TSMC, a leading semiconductor foundry providing the industry's leading process technology and a large portfolio of process-proven library, IP, design tools and reference flows, and Synopsys, the technology leader for complex IC design, have teamed together to drive solution for the next generation design challenges in 45nm and below processes.
Synopsys has a long-standing collaboration with TSMC and a common commitment to provide designers with the best IP, tools, design flows, and process technologies. Our work with TSMC helps ensure that the Synopsys design platforms provide designers a smooth and efficient path to TSMC technology. Additionally, the inclusion of TSMC's standard cell, IO, and memory libraries, with the complex blocks already available from Synopsys, helps ensure consistency and improves the overall quality and value of the complete set of products to allow design of today's complex SOCs.
Joint Customer Benefits:
Seamless Design Flow
Synopsys Delivers Comprehensive Design Support for TSMC's 28 and 40-Nanometer Process
Along with the evolution of process technologies, TSMC and Synopsys have anticipated the design challenges for each new process technology generation and have identified new design implementation issues. To help designers work within increasingly tighter technical constraints and stricter product requirements, TSMC Reference Flow Release 10.0 pays special attention to the following new technical issues:
- Advanced Low-Power Design
- Transparent Half-Node Design Support
- Enhanced Timing and Statistical Design
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
Library Distribution
TSMC's libraries are now distributed through Synopsys' DesignWare® Library. This collaboration provides the more than 25,000 DesignWare Library users, at no additional cost, access to standard cell and I/O libraries created by TSMC and optimized for the company's 0.15-, 0.13-micron, 90 and 65 nanometer (nm) NexsysSM Technology for SoC foundry processes. In addition, Synopsys also supports TSMC 90 , 65, and 40-nanometer memory compilers.
Design Services Partnership
Synopsys Professional Services has formed alliances and an integrated flow with best-in-class technology providers that enable us to offer a comprehensive set of chip development services.
